Below is a listing and explanation of each service area offered. Please review in detail so you can understand fully what each one entails. Yes, we're focus on audio but that is not the limit.
CUSTOM SPEAKERS
Custom Speakers. This is an extremely personalized experience for you, our client. Some makers get close but not this close. I will source the drivers and electrical components based on your listening preferences as this is my area of expertise. I will also offer a list of recommendations, but ultimately, you will get to pick out everything else. A caveat is required at this point... I do not build anything to a minimum cost constraint. To put this another way... I don't build budget systems. There are plenty of those available all over the world. I build speakers that marry art with audio.
At this moment, a 2-way bookshelf stereo speaker setup starts at $11k. A 3-way speaker starts at $24k. 4 and 5 way speakers are also options but starting prices will vary more. Please inquire directly.
Additionally, there will never be a duplicate of the speaker you have made for you. Each is a relatively custom design, however, there will be similarities that are based designs which work best for the particular drivers selected. But there will be plenty of options to ensure uniqueness is maintained so you will never see an identical piece anywhere else.
CUSTOM RACKS/CONSOLES/FURNISHINGS
Having a set of custom speakers made? How about a matching equipment console/rack for your amplifiers and various equipment! Already own the speakers of your dreams but tired of the limited "pre-built" options that won't match? We can help source materials that will match and design a console that will also match the overall design and layout. It starts off with a basic phone call and a request for images. A general sketch is made and once reviewed, a small fee is assessed to move to a CAD design for final review. At this point, a deposit to cover all materials and 65% of labor is required. Due to the custom nature of design, this is non-refundable. Once the project is completed, an in-person inspection by the client is required prior to moving the unit to the client's home. The remaining 35% is due immediately upon delivery.
Additionally, our full-service woodshop and CNC milling capabilities make it possible to custom fabricate many other items. While we do not pursue "general woodworking" projects, we will absolutely assist in areas where a specialized hand is required. Do you also need a matching coffee table for your media console or rack? Maybe you don't want it to match but you want something of a certain wood type, dimension, or other custom attribute you can't find anywhere else. We can help! And, finally, the one most unexpected item I find great pleasure in building for such rooms and environments... custom chess boards.
TUBE AMPLIFIERS - BIASING, UPGRADES, SMALL REPAIRS
Biasing, tube replacements and internal wiring upgrades. Have a blown capacitor? Easy day. However, we are no longer doing full restorations of amplifiers as this is an expensive and time-consuming process of little benefit. Tube biasing, however, is still available but tube testing is not.
SPEAKER UPGRADES, CABINET/ENCLOSURE repairs/MODIFICATIONs, CROSSOVER UPGRADES
When it comes to speakers, there is no limit to what we can do. Love the sound and the drivers but the cabinet is falling apart? Not the cheapest option, but at least you know what you already have. We can replicate that enclosure and give your drivers a new home with some fundamental upgrades in the process for an even better sound than the original. Just need your crossovers upgraded in search of better sound quality? Absolutely doable! We start with basic measurements to get a baseline of the speaker's characteristics and then we correct for errors (if any) and find the most suitable components to provide the best imaging without going too far where value diminishes. Internal hookup wire is often overlooked and will be assessed as part of the complete package.
Consultations/Acoustics
Are you looking to design and install a custom audio room or home theatre? We can help with that too. If you are modifying an existing home, we can provide the initial consult and design service. A contractor will be hired to perform the work, however, we will be on site the entire time to ensure everything is done correctly and according to specification. We will also be assisting the contractor directly and provide real-time project oversight- something you will not find anywhere else.
Either solely or in conjunction with the above, room acoustics are measured, and recommendations are provided to correct for major areas of concern. Many have seen or heard of acoustic panels and some will go out and spend thousands to plaster their walls with them thinking it'll solve the issues at hand. This is often wasteful and does not help. Many times over it actually hurts and this can be avoided with accurate acoustic response measurements made by someone who understands acoustics and how to control them. Don't waste your money. Call us for assistance. If you want to DIY your own panels, do so! But at least let us do the math for you. We will tell you what you need, how many and where they should go, including what frequencies and bandwidth you should focus on to make the most of your install. We can provide a follow-up measurement session if you have any doubts about the final outcome or wish to refine your results. We can also stay for a few hours and measure in real-time while you make adjustments if that is your prerogative. Your end-goal is our end-goal. We'll help where we can.
Equipment Consultations
This particular offering allows for a client who may be new to the world of audio or simply wishes to have someone curate the entire system of components to minimize errors or maximize synergy (yes, synergy is a real thing in audio!), we can help put together a list of equipment, either new or second-hand, take care of acquisitions and complete the install in your home. We test all second-hand equipment prior to delivery and installation to ensure a smooth setup. We then perform some minor in-room response measurements to align speaker position/toe angle to maximize sound quality. You will then have the opportunity to listen to a short musical demo and then a review of the system and its operations/functions and limitations are explained. And no, I do not care if you wish to purchase speakers from another company. We all have certain preferences, and this is one I will not deny any client. Also, this is a good way of getting a complete setup together without having to worry about long lead times and up-front costs to get into the custom market. However, it will allow you an opportunity to get to know our company and establish a good rapport. Bottom line, we're only happy when you are happy.
